I have been natural for almost 1 year and I need the correct products for my hair. I want those natural curls from using a guess a leave-in conditioner. I not sure of what products will give me the look I want.
I have been wearing a wig because I just cannot get the look I want without spending a fortune at the hair salon.

I want to go natural. What do I do? I havent had a relaxer in about 2 months and my hair is still short.

Charlette,
I think when taking care of natural hair one thing to remember is to look for products that don’t strip the hair and products that encourage and help the hair to retain moisture. I know a bit about natural hair but a great resource about natural hair care and styles is nappturality.com. For most people to find products that work for their hair specifically requires a little trial and error especially when it comes to working with a texture that is different than what your used to. Some product lines you would might want to check out that make shampoos, conditoners, leave-in’s etc. for natural are:
Carol’s Daughter
Kinky Curly
Curls
The Jane Carter Solution
Good Luck

SiomnaOnae,
If you haven’t had a relaxer and want to go natural you have two options:
1. Cut off all the relaxed hair and leave only the new growth to start over with.
2. If you aren’t ready to sport a teeny weeny afro you can keep the relaxed part of your hair and find ways to style your hair that won’t cause breakage. Remember where your new growth ends and your relaxed hair starts is where the hair can break so you don’t want to do much tugging or pulling. The best hairstyles at that juncture are roller sets, spiral sets, straw type sets.
Unfortunately with natural hair you will experience shrinkage that will always make your hair appear shorter than it is but once you get rid of all of what’s relaxed you can do anything to your hair like press it, flat iron it and blow it out. Once you make that big chop your options are endless.
Hope that gives you some insight.

you do not have to cut the perm out. this is per my beautician. you can slowly let your hair grow out and get trims. eventually the perm will be all gone. i havent had a perm in 9 months. i have about 3 inches of perm left and so far so good.
